החקיקה הסקוטית על פי ה Scottish Schools Parental Involvement Act ( 2006 )– קיימת חובה מדינתית לקדם שיתוף הורים במסגרת בית הספר ולפתח תכניות מקיפות לעניין זה . חובה זו מתייחסת מפורשות הן לשיתוף ההורה כפרט והן לשיתוף הורים כקבוצה . מדיניות זו באה לידי ביטוי בסעיף ההצהרתי הפותח את החוק וקובע כי על מערכת החינוך החובה לפעול לקידום שיתוף הורים : 1 .
