Turner Prize 2010 The Turner Prize will be awarded this year for the 26 th time in the UK . The prize fund of £ 40 , 000 will be divided among the four shortlisted artists – Dexter Dalwood , Angela de la Cruz , Susan Philipsz , and The Otolith Group – with £ 25 , 000 going to the winner and £ 5 , 000 each for the runners-up . The winner for 2010 will be announced during a live broadcast of the award ceremony from Tate Britain on Channel 4 on years include artists who have become prominent players Mark Wallinger , and Richard Wright . In the first years , there was no age limit , but 1991 it was decided to restrict the Prize to artists under fifty The prize is judged by an independent , annually changing jury consisting of internationally renowned art figures , also base their choices on the expertise of other art figur from various fields . The Turner Prize is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious awards for the visual worldwide . 1984 saw an all-male shortlist , and the winning was Malcolm Morley . It was not before 1993 that a woman Rachel Whiteread , first won the Turner , and four years later in 1997 , she was selected to represent the UK at the Venice Biennale . Her Turner award caused a storm as Whiteread was a member of the jury . This was not the only storm the history of the Turner Prize : virtually every year intense debate and controversy arise regarding the choice of shortlisted artists .
