Goldstein Introduction : Jewish education in the era of globalization This article attempts to provide an interim overall survey regarding Jewish education in Latin America , in view of the achievements , problems and challenges arising at the beginning of the 21 century . Latin America is a complex and diversified continent , deriving its cultural ethos from the Iberian tradition ) Spain and Portugal ( , therefore I will focus mainly on three countries , Argentina , Brazil and Mexico , where some 80 % of the continent's total Jewish population reside . According to the Jewish Population Policy Planning Institute ) 2008 ( and research studies by Professor Sergio DellaPergola , 183 , 000 Jews live in Argentina , 96 , 000 in Brazil and 40 , 000 in Mexico ) Goldstein , 2011 a ; 2011 b ( . The Institute states that there are 392 , 000 Jews in Latin America .
