While "The Lure " obviously appeals to the visual and olfactory senses , the ideas the artist embraces , highly conceptual in nature , beg both ht and contemplation . Using flowers as a metaphor , each of Bellotto ' s works reveals the power of fragrance to history , trigger memory , and awaken our emotions .
