The students at Israel's conventional universities , not including Everyman's University , totalled 62 , 355 . By the 1988 / 89 school year , the number of students is expected to rise to 70 , 000 ; by 1995 / 96 , the number should be 85 , 000 . Students taking into account three years of military serviceobtain their Bachelor's degrees at twenty-three or twenty-four ; if they proceed to the second degree , they obtain their Master's degrees at twenty-five or twenty-six and some of their most creative years in the natural sciences and in mathematics will be over before they even begin their careers . I would make a plea for gifted students to be enabled to commence their studies earlier so that they could obtain their academic degrees at an earlier age .
