ABSTRACT This book deals with the He'Halutz camp from Poland, which was concentrated mainly in Vilna, Lithuania, and its connections with the Kibbutz Hameuchad in Palestine from the beginning of World War 11 ( September 1939 ) until June 1941 . The book focuses on letters sent from Lithuania to friends and institutions in Eretz Israel . In addition there are letters from central office holders in the Kibbutz Hameuchad to He'Halutz movement members in Poland and Vilna and by them to members in the Soviet and German occupied zones . The letters mainly concern the "Gush" ( block ) which included members of "Freiheit ­ Young He'Halutz" as well as nonaffiliated pioneers who were training in the He'Halutz camps but who had not been members of a youth movement . These pioneers were the dominant part of He'Halutz in Palestine and abroad .
