Shoham from a Long - Time Friend’s Perspective * 15 time . Once a week, serious books and affairs, local and worldwide, were discussed in private homes . For a brief period, Shlomo held a ‘salon’ on his lawn to discuss the weekly biblical portion . During inclement weather, he moved the ‘salon’ inside . The participants had to clear the chairs of books . Shlomo lectured many semesters in English at Harvard University on law, criminology, philosophy and Judaism and in French at the Sorbonne on Kabbalah, Gnosis and existentialist philosophy . In those days, each student had a mentor . Shlomo had two : the late Attorney General, Haim Cohen, and Martin Buber . When Shoham was a law student, it was Haim Cohen who noticed Shoham’s interest in criminology and advised him to specialize in this subject . Academics then enjoyed classical music and learned to play an instrument, as well as sing . Shlomo only listens to classical music . He has a large collection of fascinating medieval music .
