Peace as Liturgical Semiotics The common denominator of these approaches is that they all regard a single language as the normative mediator between humans and God . Out of the full semiotic system with all its signs and symbols, the believer selects, then, a restricted set of liturgical symbols, the symbols of prayer . That is to say, the believer’s semiotics is a liturgical one . Furthermore, the classicist believer restricts his or her semiotics even further, focusing on one system, one language, which bears unique value . This approach, then, has the dual characteristics of constructing the relations with God through the language and semiotic system, while being focused on one special language that has unique value .
