Bayarat el - Badawi at the Midpoint between Majdal - Ashkelon and Hamama and Its Regional Function Yoav Gulst and Avraham ( Avi ) Sasson The site of Bayarat el - Badawi is located in the Majdal valley , at the heart of the agricultural area of Majdal and the villages surrounding it , about 30 meters above sea level . The village Hamama is situated about one kilometer to the north , and the Bayara was part of it . The many water sources in this area fostered agricultural development , primarily in the form of orchards in the valley , and the Bayara is one of the first examples of its type in the region . The Arab agricultural settlement , which reached its peak at the end of the British Mandate period , collapsed during the Israeli War of Independence in light of its heavy repercussions for the Arab population in the Ashkelon area , and Bayarat el - Badawi remained a silent remnant of that expanded settlement .
