The study investigates the changes in the portrayal of teachers in the Israeli media over time . To this end , three central fields were selected in order to analyze the figure of the teacher . The fields of analysis were chosen on the basis of their unique and distinct contribution to the understanding of the topic , as follows : Cinema served as a prism for examining the changes in the portrayal of the profession and for scrutinizing its symbolic meanings . Television was chosen because of its intensive - use of stereotypes in comedies .
