Ofira Gruweis-Kovalsky From the beginning of the process of Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel in the modern era , from 1878 until the establishment of the World Zionist Organization in 1897 , various Jewish organizations were involved in purchasing land – primarily to establish Jewish agricultural settlements .
