This study seeks to reconstruct the development of the traditions regarding the life , thought , and character of the prophet –Jeremiah traditions that extend from his own lifetime into the later exilic and Second Temple periods . At its heart lies an examination of the nature and development of Jeremiah 44-37 , a sequence of stories describing s’Jeremiah last days in Jerusalem until his descent to Egypt with the Judean refugees . Contra the scholarly claim that the evolution of the traditions regarding the s’prophet life cannot be traced , this volume proposes that such a reconstruction is in fact at least partially possible via the use of critical-source , critical-form , history-tradition , and critical-literary methods .
