INTRODUCTION Most recent scholarly discussion of the relation of attribution and anonymity to redaction in rabbinic literature has occurred with respect to the Babylonian Talmud , that is , in consideration of the contributions of the Babylonian amoraim and their anonymous editorial successors ) commonly referred to as “ stammaim" ( to the literary and historical formation of the talmudic text .
